April 4, 2001

Congratulations to The Big Dig for winning the Wednesday night playoffs, and to Midgets for capturing second.

May 4, 2001

The playoffs will start at 6:15 and will probably end between 8:30 and 9:00. Tom Sweeney has recruited two head referees (Dave Rose and Ned Santee) for the evening. In addition to those two referees, Ker-*PLONK* will supply a work crew for Court 1 in the first round, *PLONK* will do the same for Court 2. The losers of the first round will supply the work crews for the next round, and so on. Work crews will consist of a second referee, two line judges, and a scorekeeper.

  • Best 2 out of 3 games. The first two games are to 25. If a third game is necessary, it is to 15. The gender points for the third game would be 2 and 5 for a differential of 1 and 2 respectively. The winner of the match advances to the next round. Losers supply a work crew for the next round.
  • There will be a 10 minute optional warm-up before each round. If both captains consent, then the warm-up period may be shortened.
  • Before game 1 of a round, a coin toss will be held with the higher ranked team calling the toss. The winner of the toss may elect to serve, receive, or take choice of court for the first game. If the winner chooses to serve or receive, the other team has choice of court. If the winner takes choice of court, the other team has the choice of serving or receiving first. For game 2, the teams will switch sides, and the team that received the first serve in game 1 will start serving in game 2.
  • If game 3 is necessary, another coin toss will be held, and the lower ranked team will make the call for that toss with the determing options listed above.
  • No team should leave the gym without checking to make sure that there are enough people to referee the finals...

Important News For Monday Night Session

We have been pushed out another 15 minutes for a start time of 7:00. As a result, here's the new schedule:
7:00 - 7:10 Setup
7:10 - 7:15 Warmup
7:15 - 9:00 Early Session
9:00 - 9:05 Warmup
9:05 - 10:50 Late Play
10:50 - 11:00 Breakdown
We have been told that this change is the last one and that this year should be the last year we'll be affected by the youth basketball league.

We're sorry about the gyrations that we have gone through this season, but it's because of the space crunch throughout the state for youth sports. It's only due to our past history and cooperation with the Littleton school system that we still have the gym as most towns are limiting gym use to residents.

We are working on adding one additional week (at no cost) at the end of the schedule for make-up time. Voting about this matter will go out soon.

Please let your teams know. Thanks for your understanding!

Betty

12/12/00 -

The schedule has been updated to show we will be playing week 10 before Christmas (12/18 and 12/20).

November 20, 2000

Important New Times! LVL has been informed that starting on November 27th, the start time for the Monday night session needs to be pushed back (again) in order to accomodate the youth basketball league while Wednesday night will return to the original schedule.

Monday Night

Early session LVL teams should arrive at 6:35pm, to prepare for setup. Do NOT enter the gym until basketball ends. (They have the gym until 6:45pm) Late session will start at 8:50. For more details on the Monday night schedule, see the e-mail from Betty

Because of the shortened times, we also need to know your team's vote about the following two questions.

Question 1: Should games be 21 instead of 25 points for the duration of time that the shortened schedule is in effect? Question 1 passed

Question 2: If Question 1 passes (that is, games are 21 points), should the gender points awarded to a team with a +2 gender point differential be decreased to 7 points instead of the current 8 points? (Yes/No)

Notes on scoring 21 pt games from the head ref

Wednesday Night

As noted above, the Wednesday night schedule has reverted to the original one. Early session starts at 6pm (Net should be setup by then), Late session starts at 8:15pm. The games are rally scoring to 25 points as originally defined.

November 9, 2000

The start of the LVL 2000-2001 season has been delayed by one week due to a scheduling conflict. The new start date is October 2nd for the Monday night league and October 4th for the Wednesday night league.

September 13, 2000

The Littleton Volleyball League held its season kickoff meeting on September 13. Minutes of the meeting were recorded by Betty Lew. Highlights include incumbent officers re-elected, looks like we have twelve teams for the Wednesday session this year, two new rules were adopted, ( legal block, let serve ) and one rejected (libero player). Dues remain around $45 per player.
